Cheonghae Federation, natively 청해 연방 - is a democratic country located in the spiral arm of our galaxy. 396 star systems belong to the Federation, and it includes 1,182 habitable planets.

Cheonghae is a country established by the union of three countries that existed on Planet Albert 112 - the Republic of Eulji, the Republic of New Halifax, and the Kingdom of Chandra - into one country. In the 2070s, three human nations existed on Planet Albert 112 after the landing of South Korea's colony ship 'ROKS Eulji', Canada's colony ship 'HMCS Halifax', and India's colony ship 'INS Chandra'. The Republic of Eulji, the Republic of New Halifax, and the Kingdom of Chandra were located on different continents but began to clash with each other as humanity spread across the planet.

In 2132, when the Planetary Unification Movement was initiated under the leadership of Han Jeong-gi, the politician of the Republic of Eulji, the political environment of the planets began to change rapidly. Han Jeong-gi insisted that the entire planet be integrated into one country to prepare for threats posed by other forces and races in outer space. The unification movement was very well received by the three countries, and in 2142, the three countries were unified into one federation as the political parties that supported Han Jeong-gi won elections in all three countries.

Goverment

The structure of Cheonghae's government is determined by its constitution. Cheonghae's constitution has been revised several times since its enactment in 2072, and today's constitution has been revised in 2203.

Like many democratic countries, Cheonghae's government is composed of a legislative, judicial, and executive branch. The chief executive officer of the administration is the president, who also serves as the head of state. As the head of the administration, the president has executive, military, and diplomatic powers. The president can be impeached if he violates the Constitution, which requires the consent of a majority of the National Assembly and a final ruling by the Supreme Court. The legislature consists of a unicameral system National Assembly. The National Assembly consists of 1,500 members, who have the power to draft, amend, and enact legislation and the power to revise the Constitution. The Assembly can be dissolved by the president's decision, but in this case, a final ruling from the Supreme Court is required. The judiciary consists of the district court, the high court, and the Supreme Court. The district court and the high court are scattered in each province, but there is only one Supreme Court. The Supreme Court consists of Supreme Court justices recommended by the president and the National Assembly, and the elected chief justice.

Society

Cheonghae is a multiethnic country where multiple races coexist. Although 40 percent of the population is of Korean descent, they do not monopolize the primary positions and powers of society. Thanks to the Planetary Unification Movement's efforts to end ethnic conflicts, ethnic conflicts are known to be almost nonexistent within Cheonghae today. Racist speech and hate speech are strictly restricted by law, and acts that promote racial conflict are prohibited by several laws. However, social and legal discrimination regarding nationality still exists. The primary reason the Planetary Unification Movement was able to expand across the planet was to prevent threats from outer space, which has led to a society-wide sense of alertness to other countries existing in outer space. This trend has intensified since Cheonghae's encounter with Alvum.

Cheonghae's social security system is universally applicable to all citizens. All citizens are guaranteed a minimum living environment and economic conditions, and education is universally equal to all citizens, regardless of their economic level. Regardless of the social security system, the economic right to create, expand, and accumulate wealth is guaranteed to all citizens. Today, the gap between the rich and the poor in Cheonghae has narrowed compared to before the reunification of the planet, but the top 10 percent of conglomerates still have 50 percent of Cheonghae's total wealth.

All citizens of Cheonghae receive free anti-aging procedures. Economy

Cheonghae's national economy is led by many large companies and small and medium-sized enterprises. Each company is making profits by leading a variety of fields, from asteroid belt mineral mining to interplanetary trade, planetary exploration, and infrastructure development.

Helium-3 is classified as a strategic resource for Cheonghae. Helium-3, a raw material used for room-temperature nuclear fusion, occupies an important place in Cheonghae. Although there are not a few planetary and asteroid belts where helium-3 is buried, due to the high demand for it, the government of Cheonghae manages helium-3 through a state-run company.

Since the majority of habitable planets that belong to Cheonghae's territory are used as residential complexes, agriculture is practiced not only on habitable land but also on ordinary rocky planets. Because the farmland used in Cheonghae adopts indoor cultivation methods, not the same way as humans did before entering space, it is possible to farm even on a planet without an atmosphere as long as it has enclosed cultivation facilities. In this case, the agricultural facilities are built with dozens of floors or more to make the most of the land's area.

Manufacturing, which has less land or environmental constraints than agriculture, is carried out on habitable planets, general rock planets, asteroid belts, space colony stations, and even at Lagrange Point. In Cheonghae, anti-aging technologies have become commonplace. Electricity generation using Pair annihilation technology is more efficient than nuclear fusion, but it is difficult to manage and expensive, so it is only operated by the government.
