The Autocratic Stratocracy of Sharkdonia, commonly called Sharkdonia, is an Autocratic Stratocracy ruled by Charles Builder IV with an iron fist. Sharkdonia is a medium-sized nation and is located in the planet of Anteria, on the south-east of the continent of Atracia. Sharkdonia covers over 1 million square kilometers and is estimated to have a population of over 400 million. Sharkdonia is made up of 9 states.

Sharkdonia was first inhabited by an ancient sea-faring warrior race, the Oriens Impetu, who were known for their incredible battle might, but most of the time the nation was divided into multiple states busy fighting each other for power and wealth.

Sharkdonia is a developed nation, with a frighteningly high GDP of 311 trillion Sharkdonian Dollars. The per capita GDP of $187,897 ranks very highly in the world, and the nation also ranks high in income equality, with the richest 10% only earning about 2 times more than the poorest 10%. The majority of the economy is led by the humongous Arms/Defense Manufacturing industry, with significant contributions to it from the General Manufacturing industry, as well as Information Technology industry.

Sharkdonia ranks as one of the largest economies in the world, but only average in civil rights and even lower in political freedoms. Sharkdonia is recognized as an emerging power, and is a member of several international organizations, such as the World Assembly.

Etymology

The origin of the word Sharkdonia comes from the original settlers of the area, the Oriens Impetu, a group of ancient sea-faring warrior tribes, whom named the area after the primary god they worshiped, Sharistris. Sharistris was the god of war, honor, and the sea, and was said to resemble a shark. The word eventually evolved into Sharkdonia.

The government and governance of Sharkdonia is unique and confusing, based on thousands of years of tradition, culture, and history. The original system was designed in 1200 CE where the Red Empire first came into existence under Julius Builder, and to this day our current government system has retained most of the elements of the original system.

Ruling of Sharkdonia is under an Oligarchic system, with both Autocratic and Stratocratic elements. There are 3 houses of government. The National Congress, the High Senate, and the Grand Council. Each of these houses are more prestigious, and have different responsibilities. All of the government houses are under the current Supreme Leader of Sharkdonia, who is essentially the final word on all government matters

This section will be covering each house of the Sharkdonian government and the Supreme Leader's purpose in the government and how exactly it works.

Government

The National Congress

The National Congress is the lower house of the Sharkdonian Senate consisting of 254 (currently) congressmen who are elected by the people from different states in order to represent their interests. The amount of congressmen that are elected by each state are determined by the amount of people in that state. For every 10,000 citizens in a state, one congressman will be elected.

Any citizen can run to be a congressman, but they have to meet certain requirements before they can run. These requirements are:

1. Must be at least of 18 years of age
2. Must have not committed any major crimes in the past 5 years
3. Must have served at least 2 years in the Sharkdonian Armed Forces

Each congressman serves for a maximum of 4 years, but can step down if needed to. There are no restrictions on how many times a citizen can run for congressman, but if you have already served on the National Congress, then you are only allowed to run 1 more time.

The duties of the National Congress is to address the concerns of the general populace, represent the people's interests, and to draft laws that they think would be beneficial to the state. They also determine the importance of petitions that are drafted by citizens and whether the issue should go to the Grand Council or not.

The High Senate

The High Senate is the upper house of the Sharkdonian Senate consisting of 45 senators who are also elected by the people in order to represent their interests, much like the National Congress. 5 Senators are elected per state, and only 5.

Becoming a Senator is much harder than becoming a congressman, since the requirements for even running for the positions is much harder than the requirements for becoming a congressman. These requirements include:

1. Must be at least of 21 years of age
2. Must have not committed any major crimes in the past 10 years
3. Must have served as a commissioned officer (CO) in the Sharkdonian Armed Forces
4. Must have at least 1 year of experience in politics

Each senator serves for a maximum of 6 years, but can step down if needed to. There are no restrictions on how many times a citizen can run for congressman, but if you have already served on the High Senate, then you are only allowed to run 1 more time. While obtaining the position of Senator is difficult through traditional means, it is possible for you to be appointed as a Senator by the Supreme Leader himself. While this has only happened a few times in all of history, you can be put on the High Senate without having to meet these requirements.

The duties of the High Senate is much like the National Congress. They address the concerns of the general populace and to represent the people's interests. The High Senate also works closely with the National Congress, and can also draft up laws. In fact, the duties of the High Senate is almost identical to that of the National Congress, with the only difference being that Senators represent the entire state, while Congressmen represent areas in that state and that the Senate is much more prestigious than the National Congress.

The Grand Council

The Grand Council is the Supreme Leader's closest advisers and act as the highest level of government when the current Supreme Leader is currently disabled. Members of the Grand Council are typically the highest ranking member in the different government departments and the military. Members of the Grand Council can also be trusted friends of the Supreme Leader. Only the Supreme Leader can appoint members of the Grand Council, except for the 2 seats where there is usually a member of the Senate or Congress that sits that is elected by the people or their fellow senators and congressmen.
