The Council of Shires (GoS)(Fēþisc: Gemōt of Scīra), also known as the Council of Representatives, is the lower house of the Federated Fire Territories. The Council comprises the Crown appointed chair and 22 elected representatives.
Role
Serving at the people's pleasure, the Council of Representatives form the federal legislative branch of government, chaired by a Crown appointee known as Chair of the Shires (Fēþisc: Stōl of se Scīra). Members of the Council are titled Shire Representative (Fēþisc: Scirspala), which is a position given upon election by the People's Council (ThG). Together, the representatives form the supreme legislative body of the Fire Territories.
Excluding the Chair, the Council of Shires seats 22 Shire Representatives. Representatives are beholden to, represent, and implement the socio-political will of their constituency's Elected Lords of the Realm. The Chair of the Shires acts as the executive body within the Council, maintaining the course of the debate.
