It was founded on 15 July 2018 as '''Heritage'''({{wp|Hungarian language|Brillian}}: ''Örökség'') to form a new party for the [[2019 Brillian legislative election]]. After several important party members were blocked by the Election Authority from forming part of the party list due to having criminal records, it refused to participate in the election and instead endorsed {{wp|Protest vote|submitting a blank ballot}}.
Identity borrows a part of its ideology from the National Order, the authoritarian party which ruled Brilliania between 1913 and 1954. Amongst its centrepiece policies are the {{wp|Legality of cannabis|legalisation of marijuana}}, limiting suffrage to men only, and reinstating the {{wp|conscription|military draft}}. The party also supports a quick dismantlement of religious institutions and reinstating the {{wp|death sentence}}
