Kynnport is the capital of Alecburgh, and is the second-largest city in the country after Draycott with a population of 14.2 million people. It is one of the largest cities in Adula, as well as one of the largest cities in the world. It is the cultural, political, and economic hub of Alecburgh, hosting the Parliament of Alecburgh, the government cabinets, and the functions of the royal family.
The area known as Kynnport was settled in the early 1000's as a fishing and trading port, and gained prominence as an operating colony for the Quetanan Empire in the 1400s. Upon Alecburghish independence in the 1830s at the conclusion of the Barretoan Wars, the natural environment of the Kynnport area and its mild Toyana Ocean climate came to the attention of the upper classes in the second half of the 19th century, when an increasing number of aristocratic families took to spending their winters there. The city had a major population boom as the economic and industrial center of the country in the early 20th century, becoming one of the first cities in the world to reach more than 10 million people in the 1950s.
The city is home to multiple embassies and companies for international corporations, and it serves as the hub for much of the central transport within the country of Alecburgh. Queen Chelsea Memorial International Airport is the fifth-busiest airport in South Adula. The city suffers from major traffic congestion and dense urban development, with one of the tightest population densities in the world.
