The SSM-4 Leviathan is a family of supersonic anti-ship missiles used by the Inyurstan Navy and Inyurstan Air Force.

Design

The Leviathan is built with a ramjet engine, allowing it to reach speeds up to Mach 3.5 in its terminal attack run. Similar to P-700 Granit or BrahMos, this missile is capable of undersea launch in addition to surface and air-based platforms.

It has the longest range when air-dropped as opposed to wet-launch or surface-launched due to gravity and the lack of energy used up in the launch sequence. It weighs about 1,300kg, allowing it to be carried by everything from bombers to light fighter aircraft. Up to three of these missiles can be carried under the fuselage by carrier-borne AC/A-18Y2 Hydrophína fighters, and up to two can by carried by AC/A-85 Cantíl STOVL aircraft.

Guidance is provided by a number of sources, giving the warhead "autonomous targeting". Satellite cues, aircraft active radar assistance plus timing & internal measurement unit (TIMU) along with terminal passive radar and contrast-seeking electro-optical imaging with all contribute to this weapon's ability to select and engage hostile enemy vessels with a high degree of discrimination and resistance to enemy ECM counter-measures. This missile can also be launched and any links to friendly support assets destroyed or terminated and will still guide onto its target.

Variants

SSM-4; Is the primary ship-launched version, most commonly deployed on Valizéno-Class Cruisers.

SSM-4T; Is a ground-launched version, carried in self-contained TU-15 launch units which include fire-control radar and communication equipment. Each truck unit carries two missiles.

SSM-4W; Is a wet-launch capable version mounted in the SSU-10 VLS cells on Type-64s of the Inyurstan Navy. Launch depth 50m bellow the surface.

ASM-4; Is an air-launched variant compatible with F-16, FA-18E/F, IA-40, A10T and B-1b aircraft.
