The Commissions are the four specialised legislative bodies of Mel-akkam. Each is composed of ten members, one elected from each province, and has authority over one area of governance (social affairs, economics, justice, or foreign affairs). Each is led by a President, customarily the member for Mohenjo-daro Province. The commissions are elected twice annually, on the Vernal and Autumnal Equinoxes. When the four commissions meet for a joint session, which occurs four times a year, they are known collectively as the Coordinating Council.

Social Commission

The Social Commission, sometimes referred to as the First Commission, has authority over social affairs. It has a wide range of competencies and is often considered to be the most powerful commission.
