Military anthem of the Englean Kaiserreich | |
Lyrics | Wilhelm Wagenknecht, 1845 |
---|---|
Music | Ägidius Krampitz |
Adopted | 1943 |
"Die Wacht am Korentien" is an Englean patriotic song and current anthem of the Englean Kaiserreich's imperial military. The origins of the song are rooted in the Rhodeve-Englean Coastal Wars, and the Englean victory that had occurred in 1845. The song places the Kaiserreich as the "Protector of Corentia," continuously "on guard" on the continent. The song resurged in popularity in 1919, when the First Great War concluded with the Kaiserreich once again resisting Rhodeve invasions. The song was officially adopted as the official anthem of the GKSeK in 1943, after the repulsion of the Damsmarian invasion of the Kaiserreich.
Lyrics
German Lyrics | English Translation |
---|---|
The cry resounds like thunder's peal, Like crashing waves and clang of steel: Corentia, Corentia, our Englean Corentia, Who will defend our continent, divine? |
(Chorus)
Lieb Vaterland, magst ruhig sein, |
Dear fatherland, no fear be thine, dear fatherland, no fear be thine, Firm stands the Watch along, along Corentia! Firm stands the Watch along, along Corentia! |
|
They stand, a hundred thousand strong, Quick to avenge their country's wrong, With filial love their bosoms swell They shall guard the sacred landmark well. |
|
He casts his eyes to heaven's blue, From where past heroes hold the view, And swears pugnaciously the oath, You Corentia and I, stay Englean, both. |
|
While still remains one breath of life, While still one fist can draw a knife, One gun still fired with one hand, No foe will stand on this Englean sand. |
|
Should my heart not survive this stand, You'll never fall in foreign hand, As abundant with water is your flood, So is the Reich in heroes' blood. |

German Lyrics | English Translation |
---|---|
|
The oath resounds, on rolls the wave, The banners fly high, proud, and brave, |
Hoch Wilhelm! Nieder mit der Brut! Und tilg' die Schmach mit Feindesblut!
|
So lead us with your tried command, With trust in God, take sword in hand, Hail Wilhelm! Down with all that brood! Repay our shame with the foes' blood! |
