The National Trust Rangers Service is a Kouralian Law Enforcement Organisation under the authority of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Forestry entrusted with 'Safeguard[ing] Places of Historic Interest or Natural Beauty permanently for the benefit of all the Royal Union.'

History

The National Trust Rangers Service was set up in 1822 as the Royal Enquiry into Crown Estates, and charged originally with preventing poaching or destruction/damage to foliage on parks or forest land that were owned by the Crown. This was intended to be formalisation of the multitude of similar, smaller organisations and groups (such as the Kurton City Park Officers), whose job was originally to assist the Police in prosecuting for offences on royal property. Remit

Its specialist duties include arresting poachers, investigating environmental violations, illegal building, counterfeit foods, safeguarding protected animal species, enforcing endangered species laws, and preventing and fighting wildfires through 150 regional commands and its fleet of 350 fire-fighting aircraft. The NTRS also has a role in the national anti-drugs and organised crime task force. The NTRS is also responsible for civil protection in Kouralia's mountain areas and for disaster relief. If necessary, the NTRS can also be used in tasks of public order in the city and any urban context.

Insignia

Uniform

There are three main uniforms for the Trust Rangers, in varying levels of formality. The most formal is the #1 Dress Uniform, rarely worn except when in formal situations such as parades or inspections of sites. In the dress uniform a dark silver jacket and trousers is worn, with gold buttons, collar insignia and ranks and accenting on the shoulder board. The dress cap worn is in a similar hue, with a black peak, silver band and crown, and gold and lilac chinstrap worn atop the peak. More senior Officers' peaks are adorned with laurel wreaths or rims of gold to indicate status. The boots worn by the Rangers #1 Uniform are invariably black calf-high boots, like with the VaU. All worn belts feature gold buckles and loops, and are made from brown leather. As all Rangers are firearms trained, all are entitled to wear the lilac beret of the unit, and while rarely worn in lieu of the peaked cap in Dress Uniform, when wearing working dress it is the most common headdress. #2 Service Dress consists of a short-sleeve (or long sleeve with Jersey Heavy Wool Jumper) grey shirt with grey trousers, rank insignia worn on epaulettes, the beret or a baseball cap, and black combat boots. The #3 Working Dress consists of a grey utility shirt with combat boots and trousers, a baseball cap or beret, and invariably a load-carrying vest or body armour.

Rank Insignia

All rank insignia is worn on shoulder boards, and is a blend of gold and lilac colouring. It shares, like all law enforcement organisations, many features such as the wreathed star or chevrons.

Banners

The only flag authorised to be flown by the National Trust Rangers' Service is their banner, consisting of a white background, bisected horizontally by a thick lilac line. In the centre is a stag surmounting the word 'RANGERS' surmounted by a crown, surrounded by a thin lilac ring. This is flown at all Ranger Stations and by any vessels used by the organisation.
