The Aznazian Navy (FRAN) is the naval warfare and coastal defence branch of the Aznazian Department of Defense. It has a total manpower strength of 150,000, operates 154 vessels and 678 Aircraft making it one of the largest in Sunalaya. In addition to operating the ships, helicopters and ports of the Aznazian Department of Defense, the Navy also controls five marine divisions, and a armor battalion.

History

After gaining independence from the Republic of Rhodevus, the United Providences of Aznazia felt they needed to create a navy to not only protect themselves from Rhodevus but also the numerous other nations inhabiting the land around the new nation like Caldonia and the Northern Kingdoms. On April 4th, 1762 the navy was formed by the new High Council along with the rest of the official Aznazian military. The navy originally consisted of about 3 frigates and 7 sloops that were either captured or built during the war of independence.

Organisation

The entirety of the Aznazian Navy falls under the 4 sections of Aznazia's Defensive sectors covering the oceans around it. It is primarily tasked with defending Aznazian coastline and areas of national interest. The First section is the Eastern Grid that comprises of the ocean between Aznazian and Ventismar. The Second Section is the Southern Grid that comprises of the ocean to between Aznazia and Esotana and the ocean between Smoya and Bohin. To the West, the Western Grid covers the Pacifica Ocean and all islands in it.

The Aznazian Navy has 5 major naval bases, the largest of which is Port Patterson, which houses the headquarters of the Navy, the Naval Academy and heavy shipyards. In addition there are 4 other naval bases located in Crawford, Santa Elva, Pacifica City and the Ahiu Islands. Naval Aviation facilities are present at all naval bases for resupply and combat aircraft.
