Elprus is a geographical region and independent peiron, with x countries located within its bounds. An expanse of archipelagoes comprising over thousands of islands and landmasses large and small, of which over half is located in the northern hemisphere, Elprus is rather diverse with cultures, histories, heritage and political systems of the many states and nations that call it home. Over x billion humans inhabit Elprus, alongside with a variety of extant species.
Etymology
It is widely believed that "Elprus" has the same etymological root as the name of the Elprus Republic, a different sovereign polity located in the region. It is established that the name is more or less Synic in origin, the language family spoken by the peoples of the Sihric Archipelago southwest of Turulia. There are two popular proposed theories: the first holds that 'Elprus' comes from ilt bruzav, antiquity classical Sarreni for archipelago (or more literally, group of islands), while the second instead proposes that 'Elprus' instead comes from Elpric eilvrus, for horizon. The name was adapted to refer to the whole region by Albish explorers and writers as early as the 14th century, likely as elvrus or ilvrus before being corrupted into "Elprus".
