Everàrd Torsièl is a Montecaran politician who is currently the President of the Senate of Montecara. He is an independent.

Background

Torsièl holds a laurea and laurea magistrale in economics from the University of Montecara. He joined the Montecaran Union of Academics (UMA), a trade union, as a graduate student and was elected president of the University of Montecara local in 1986. After graduation, he went to work for the union as an economist and was involved in negotiations with the Montecaran government over working hours and tenure during the 1990 general strike in Montecara.

After working for UMA's economics unit from 1987 to 1997, Torsièl was elected to represent the union at the Global Alliance of Trade Unions. He remained at this position until he was elected to the Senate in 2011.
