The Baltican Civil War is a concluded internal conflict in Baltica. It began in early 2022 and saw multiple ethnic and military states pup up throughout former Baltica. The conflict would officially conclude on July 27th 2022, after the surrender of Dokestva and the raising of the New Republic flag over the former Dokestvan capital of Visagris. In the aftermath of the conflict, Baltica has begun a economic recovery which is still currently on going...

Background

Various anti Dolch rallies took place across Baltica shortly before the outbreak of war, specifically in Kretia, where protesters would blockade the Kretian Docks and caused an all out shut down of all trade in Northern Baltica. This event was dubbed the Kretian Blockade and would conclude in the military being called on to remove the protesters, who would respond violently. One Gedrus Izas would lead these protests and eventually go on to form the Anti Dolch Alliance (ADA), an offshoot of the Free Baltica Party (FBP) that sprung up around the same time. An additional Riot would take place in Cidra, after the death of a Raskian War veteran Jonas Svedas who would die after having his heating cut-off by Dolch owned heating company, Karshtatis. The army would once more be called upon to put down the protest. These events contributed to rising tensions between ethnic Ras and Dolch, especially in Central and Eastern Baltica where there was a large mix of Ras and Dolch.

The conflict would officially begin on February 27th, after Baltican President Algridas Banis suffered a stroke and was subsequently incapacitated. His son and acting Head of the Visagris Territory Jonas Banis stormed the National Council building, during an ongoing discussion on candidates for Presidency. During the occupation of the National Council building, General Kazimiras Ingaitis was shot dead, and the remaining officials were forced (at gun point) to officially dissolve the Baltican Republic, and proclaim the Republic of Dokestva in its place. Shortly thereafter, various Generals and Political figures announced the creation of their own separate sovereign states throughout the country, most notably in Kauni where the Baltican Rifle Corp would proclaim the Republic of Kauni. Nekolas Armena, the head of the Free Baltica Party, and one of the candidates for acting emergency president, was able to flee Goja before the storming of the Central Government building. After successfully escaping into Sveaja, he and what few members of the former government remained proclaimed the Republic of Raskia, but a disgruntled faction within the Free Baltican Party, known as the Anti Dolch Alliance, instead rallied around Gedrus Izas proclaiming the Republic of Baltica in Kretia shortly after the creation of Raskia.

Major factions

Some separatist movements are pushing for independent ethnostates, revolving around the country's two main ethnic groups: Dolchs and Ras. Others movements push for one state dominated by a single group. Groups such as the Kauni remain neutral in the conflict and instead are maintaining their own territory.

Leading up to the War

• 15 February 2022: President Algridas Banis suffers a critical stroke, and is subsequently hospitalised in the Royal Goja Medical Institute. A news broadcast is played shortly after, informing the nation of the event, and an emergency meeting of the National Council is arranged.
• 17th February 2022: The candidate process begins, as Algridas is not medically fit to run the nation.
• 20th February 2022: Jonas Banis, governor of the Dokestva territory, meets in secrete with generals of the Dokestvan National Guard. A partial Mobilisation of Dokestvan forces begins in Jungerhil.
• 24th February 2022: Jonas Banis flies to Goja for the planned candidate vote on the 27th.
• 25th February 2022: General Kazimiras Zornas arrives in Goja without his escort, who had been stopped on the outskirts of Ingute, just outside Goja.
• 26th February 2022: Nekolas Armenas, the last candidate for emergency president, is halted in Zukernstadt by Baltican National Troops. They attempt to place him under arrest, but Nekolas and his small entourage are able to convince the guards to free them. Not expecting to make it to Goja, they instead travel to nearby Bruckenstadt and await the results of the vote.
• 27th February 2022: Members of the DNPB and the local city police storm the National Council meeting. They hold most of the members of government at gunpoint and order them to dissolve the Baltican Constitution. The council hesitantly broadcasts their decision. Shortly, the DNPB and Jonas Banis would declare that Baltica was no longer a functional state and that all of its territories now rightfully belonged to the Republic of Dokestva. After the broadcast, Nekolas flees North to Raskia, whilst General Kazimiras Zornas is killed, reportedly shot by members of the DNPB.
• 1st March 2022: Nekolas Armenas, upon arriving in Sveaja declares that the former territories of Northern Baltica now fell into the jurisdiction of the Republic of Raskia, and any move by Dokestva, the national forces or any rouge generals will be taken as a sign of aggression and meet with appropriate force. Subsequently, a mobilisation order is given throughout all the North, and troops along the Baltican-Hveradalur are recalled to Sveaja.
• 2nd March 2022: The former military escort of Kazimiras Zornas, unaware of their general's death, finally arrives to Goja, and starts an all-out fight with the city's local Garrison as well as members of the DNPB. They are successful in liberating the National Council and are able to lead many members of the government to safety. By the end of the day, the Escort successfully takes back control of Goja and what's left of the Baltican Government attempts to rally troops throughout the nation to help put down the insurrections in the North and South.
• 3rd March 2022: A Baltican Emergency broadcast is played across all frequencies at 6 pm. They detail the events in the Capital and report that fighting has begun across the entirety of the Nation.
• 4th March 2022: General Juozas Vejas, alongside the existing civilian administration of Kauni take full control of the Kauni territory. They declare armed neutrality, promising to fire on any Northern, National, or Southern troops that wish to attack it.
• 7th March 2022: Rumours begin to spread about Kretia becoming occupied after a violent struggle by a pro-Raskian Extremist Party. These rumours are solidified when an announcement from Kretia reports that the city has been liberated by the VSA (White Stork Army Group).

International reaction

Several countries around the Wurld have deployed troops as peacekeepers and intervening and stabilising forces. However, other countries have taken a more aggressive stance on the conflict.
