Mirage-III Class

The Mirage-III is the most recent development of the Mirage family. Earning the designation "SSTBN", wherein the "T" represents its design to carry tactical ballistic missiles (or more accurately anti-ship ballistic missiles).

While the Mirage-II was a successful model, the addition of another low-altitude cruise missile asset did not assist with Inyursta's doctrine of an all-altitude, all-aspect attack. A submarine-based platform was chosen over a ship-based platform due easier capacity of replacing & resizing VLS cells and due to the ability of submarines to disappear.

As of date, the Mirage-III has not fired a shot in combat.

Armament

Sixteen SSU-15 VLS cells are fitted into the launch sections of the submarine chassis, each carrying a single SSM-9D Yacún-Borão anti-ship ballistic missiles. With a range of over 500km, this allows the Mirage-III to attack enemy carrier groups from a safe distance. Later upgrades such as the SSM-9DA1 & SSM-9DA2 allow the submarine to attack targets on land with conventional warheads.
