The 1999 Garetolia Film Festival was the first showing of the event, held from 19 December 1999 to 25 December 1999. Like every other event of the type, it featured 13 films. The prize for Best Comedy was awarded to Da Makeing of Gramr, the prize for Best Action was awarded to He's Mine, the prize for Best Horror was awarded to The Mailman, and the coveted Best Film award was given to He's Mine.

Da Makeing of Gramr A historical comedy following the story of the creators of the English language and what rules they decide to set for grammar. Criticized heavily due to its historically inaccurate nature. Best Comedy
The Collapse A historical docudrama about the Collapse of the German Empire during World War I.
The Mailman A horror film about a mailman that must deliver a package addressed to a house that's widely known by the townfolk for being abandoned. While there, the mailman enounters some strange paranormal activities. Best Horror
Blast! A drama film that shows the events leading up to a naval battle. The term "Blast!" can be used as a substitute for an expletive, but is also used in the Garetolian armed forces to alert an incoming artillery strike, giving the film's title a double meaning.
Jack is Back A comedy-drama about a man who returns to college to finish the last three months of his education, only seven years after he dropped out.
1978 A historical drama regarding the independence of Garetolia.
Hudson A historical drama following the tale of Captain James Hudson, an officer in the Garetolian Navy during World War II.
Poled A comedy-drama about a struggling, low-income woman whose last resort in order to make money is to become a stripper.
