The Green Party of Sel Appa (French: Parti vert du Sel Appa) is one of the political parties in Sel Appa. It was founded in 2005 by activist, Kelly Spelzburg. It was originally classified as left-wing, but the party denies this label and considers itself centrist and nonpartisan. It is focused on environmental issues, and unlike many green parties, rejects leftism. The party counts among its membership environmentally conscious people of the left, center, and right and forbids any partisanship from taking control of the organization. The party has consistently earned seats in the lower end of two digits, and has participated in every government since 2010, helping the top vote-getter over the finish line.

History

Ideology

The party focuses on environmental issues, and welcomes varied perspectives to protect the environment. Members come from the left and right and representatives may vote their conscience on issues not related to the environment. However, they tend to vote with the government position.

Abortion

The party has no position, and representatives are permitted to vote their conscience. Most are anti-abortion, but a growing number over the years have supported decriminalization.

The party strongly believes in protecting animal rights.

Death Penalty

Leadership

The Green Party was founded by activist Kelly Spelzburg in 2005. Spelzburg leaned left, but did not impose her preferences on the party. After she was appointed to the Supreme Court, Wendy Johnson took over and implemented the nonpartisanship that Green came to be known by. She welcomed conservatives and libertarians into the party, saying the environment isnt a partisan issue. Mackenzie Tate won the 2020 leadership election and has led it since.
