The Commonwealth of Rhodevus commonly called the Rhodeve Commonwealth (RC), or simply, the Commonwealth is a group of nations bound together by historic roots in Sunalaya. It is an Intergovernmental organization that includes countries from every continent. The Commonwealth comprises of 9 Main Members and 15+ External Countries.

The Commonwealth of Rhodevus is an important bloc of countries which share historic ties to the Rhodeve Republic/Rhodeve Empire in the mid-19th century. The Commonwealth is now an important organization that conducts military, athletic, diplomatic, scientific and sometimes even diplomatic affairs around the world.

Etymology

The Commonwealth of Rhodevus originates to the late 1800s speech, about a "common group of nations which are bound together through history and culture", given by an unknown politician in Rhodevus. The organization was transformed from the Rhodeve Protectorate Program in the 1940s to the Commonwealth in the early 1950s.

History

The Rhodeve Protectorate Program

Initially proposed by the government of Eubatu, the Rhodeve Protectorate Program (RPP) would be a military defense and economic alliance between Rhodevus, Eubatu and Ispanza. The meetings between the three nations took place between 1935 and 1937, with the official establishment of the RPP taking place on March 6, 1937.

As tensions began to rise around the world, Makenzie and Athabaska joined the RPP in 1938. This would prove beneficial when the Second World War broke out in 1939.

The RPP expanded again in 1940 when Molenston joined, bringing the RPP into conflict with The Bohin. Shastara would join in 1941 after working closely with the RPP for the previous two years.

The Eubatu incident

Through the first half of WW2, the RPP Army was commanded by officers from Rhodevus, Ispanza and/or Eubatu. Eubatian leadership resulted in a series of defeats and severe casualties as they tried to push advantages too far or refuse to give up positions in the face of defeat. In 1943, after a vote by the lead representatives of each Protectorate nation was carried out, military command was taken away from Eubatu.

The Commonhood of Man

Following the conclusion of the Second World War, the purpose of the RPP essentially ended. Molenston and Makenzie and Athabaska left the Rhodeve Protectorate Program and the nations remaining needed to decide how the RPP would grow into the modern era. The Rhodeve Protectorate Program was officially disbanded and replaced with the Commonhood of Man; an interregnum period while the RPP transitions into the Rhodeve Commonwealth.

Port Joy was established as the capital of the Commonwealth. Construction on the Commonwealth Senate began in 1949 and was completed in 1955. The Senate building entered into service in 1952 while still being constructed.

The Commonwealth Army was also established, taking branches from the Protectorate military as well as equipment from the [[Second Great War (Sunalaya)|Second World War. It would become officially separated from the Military of Rhodevus during this period as well.

Further expansions to the Commonwealth were written down, including the potential to set up a scientific alliance and nuclear energy treaty. These would become official Commonwealth branches in 1957 and 1960 respectively.

Leadership

Executive President

The Executive President is more of a figurehead role, with little power in the Commonwealth aside from the ability to veto laws, choose an extra candidate and declare war. Only the President has the legal authority to send the Commonwealth Army into a battle. Although, this authority requires the Speaker of the House and the senate to pass a law 'asking' for the President to utilize the Commonwealth Army.

Speaker of the House

The Speaker of the House is the person in charge of how all meetings are run. They are elected by a 1/2 + 1 majority vote every 5 years, from a list of chosen candidates. This list of candidates is decided on by each head of state of the Commonwealth countries. Every head of state chooses a single candidate (although the official method of choosing said candidate is up to the individual nations themselves).

Chief Justice

The Chief Justice is in charge of documenting the goings on of the Commonwealth Assemblies, recording the laws, troop movements and all discussions. When debate emerges over the meanings of certain laws, it is the Chief Justice who can pull the records of old meetings. They act as the final judge to all decisions, making sure that new laws do not overrule or become blocked by old rules, and deals with all inter-nation discussion between less than the full Commonwealth. They are chosen by a 2/3rd majority vote from among the past members of the representatives or are chosen candidates of the head of state (following the same guidelines as the Speaker of the House). Their position is a five-year position, chosen roughly halfway through the reign of the Speaker of the House.
