The Liberal Party is a centre-right liberal party that supports economic liberalism and civil libertarianism. On economic issues the Liberal Party favours low broad-base taxation, a free market economy with minimal economic regulations, trade liberalisation, redirection of indiscriminate subsidies towards broad-based provision of key pro-growth, pro-poor services such as primary education, primary health care and infrastructure investment, and maintaining the current Universal Catastrophic Coverage healthcare system. On cultural issues, the Liberal Party is strongly civil libertarian, promoting drug legalisation, open immigration, gay marriage, internet freedom, freedom of speech, freedom of association, and equality before the law. The majority of Liberals favour a Liberal Interventionist foreign policy of pressuring illiberal nations to adopt liberal and democratic reforms, and also favour continued membership in the World Assembly, although there is a significant faction of non-interventionists in the party. Liberals acknowledge the existence of anthropogenic climate change and favour increasing the Carbon Tax and Dividend to achieve reduction in carbon emissions. |
