Education in Sharifistan is funded by the state from primary school up to (and including) post-graduate university education.

Pre-school

Pre-school education is generally the preserve of the upper-middle class. The state does, however, provide pre-school education for families where both parents are in the military or police.

Primary schools

Primary education in Sharifistan is divided into two main types: state and private. Most Sharifistanis send their children to state primary schools but most of the professional class ,and almost all of the nobility, send their children to private primary schools. Primary school continues until age 12 (for boys) and until age 10 (for girls) after which students join secondary education.

Secondary education

State secondary education is divided into four main types: a type simply called High Schools (which provide basic academic education along with vocational subjects),Grammar Schools (which provide advanced academic education), İmam Hatip schools (which teach boys and young men how to be imams and khatibs) and technical schools (which provide a combination of academic and vocational education in STEM-related areas).

Students who apply to any of the school types other than the first must pass a test. In addition private schools such as the Sharifistani School of Fencing exist, charging high fees and educating children of the wealthy elite.

The Catholic Church operates their own secondary schools as do the Orthodox, Mormon and Anglican churches. There is one officially registered Jewish school in Madinat Al-Islam.

University education

University education is offered in various subjects and paid for by the government. There are three types of university: generic university, military university and police university.

Generic universities must have a medical school, a theology school and a law school.

Sharifistani universities are generally considered very good though only 14.5% of Sharifistanis attend university.
