The New Pangus Defense Forces encompasses the New Pangus Army, New Pangus Navy, and the New Pangus Air Force. The President of New Pangus heads the armed forces, with the title, "Commander-in-chief". The President is the supreme authority for military matters and is the sole official who can order military action.

The Defense Forces are a full-time, professional fighting force used for the defense of New Pangusand its territories. The Defense Forces, in their current organizational structure, has existed since 2015, after the Aquitaynian military relieved command of combat operations in Pangus on 21 February, 2015.

The Defense Forces's commander-in-chief is Giacomo Gianni, who is responsible for their actions on a national scale. The Defense Forces have certain leniency's when it comes to civil affairs; Martial Law may be enacted in the event of a rebellion, uprising or civil unrest, where the New Pangus Army would intervene and effectively the area would be designated a war zone. Other than that, the Defense Forces are constitutionally incapable of intervening in civil matters. Otherwise, the Defense Forces interfere during national disasters such as hurricanes, blizzards, floods, and other catastrophic events.

The Department of Defense is the senior staff and advisers to the President, with the Army Chief of Staff reporting directly to the President as the senior military adviser to the President. The Army Chief of Staff reports also to the Joint Chiefs, which is the President's direct military advisory council on all military matters and affairs, and it is to the Joint Chiefs that most military operations get approved.

The New Pangus Defense Forces military policy is to maintain a small, well trained, highly adaptable, and excellently equipped professional fighting force to fight the modern war in a numerically disadvantageous position. This policy has lead to reduced military spending and the ability of the Defense Forces to spend an annual amount of around $150,000.00NSD on a basically trained Pangeian soldier. With advanced training and specialty MOS assignments, spending for an individual soldier can increase to over $2,500,000.00NSD. These advantages in training quality and equipment allow New Pangus to proactively defend itself from numerically larger forces.
