Belmonte is subdivided into three regions (Luzelese: regiões) which make up the first tier of the country's administrative subdivisions. Although considered to be federal subdivisions, regions only exist for academic purposes, serving for the research of social, economic and demographic issues of their respective areas, holding no political importance.
