Mikael Mayskär is an Acrean officer and sniper. Mayskär is best known for being one of the highest-credited modern Acrean snipers, and is officially credited with 132 kills. The majority of these came during the Zemplen War, where he achieved 90 kills of his total during fighting across Ruvelka. Following his deployment during the Midsummer War, Mayskär completed the requisite courses for and received his commission as an officer. Since 2017, he has served as an instructor at the Rynningeviken Sniper School.

Early Life

Mayskär was born in Söderköping, Götland to a family with long military tradition. His father had served in the Royal Acrean Marine Corps and had seen limited combat serving in Syara during the Refusal War. An avid athlete during his youth, Mayskär was active in a number of shooting sports including hunting and biathlon. He took home several awards from youth competitions at his local shooting club.

Military Service

Mayskär enlisted in the RAMC after graduating school in 2005. Initially a rifleman, his high marksmanship marks earned him one of his regiment's slots for the Sniper School at Rynningeviken. Along with the rest of his division, Mayskär was deployed to Ruvelka in late autumn 2008, where Marines began to see combat almost immediately as part of the Ruvelkan Winter Counter-Offensive.

Over the course of the fighting in the winter of 2008-2009, Mayskär and his fellow snipers provided valuable support through deliberately targeting key Syaran personnel- such as artillery observers, reconnaissance troops, and officers- and conducting counter-sniper operations. Mayskär and other Acrean snipers worked closely with Ruvelkan personnel with intimate familiarity of the terrain to provide them with an advantage in hunting opposing Syaran snipers. In many cases, they worked closely with SOG operators and snipers to conduct these operations. Mayskär was deployed alongside a mixed team of Marine, Army, and SOG troops to southern Ruvelka in early autumn 2009, where he would remain until being rotated back to the north as part of Operation Homefront.

Several years later, in 2015, Mayskär was once again deployed to Shalum during the Midsummer War where he spent the entirety of the conflict participating in fighting on Iron Island. He received a field commission for which he attended officer training courses a year later, and accepted a standing invitation from Rynningeviken to become an instructor at the Sniper School in 2017 where he remains.

Personal Life

Although initially largely unknown, rumours of Mayskär's exploits in Ruvelka were common across the Acrean military during the conflict. It wasn't until the Midsummer War that his record became more widely known within the Acrean public as he gained both fame and infamy during operations on Iron Island. Mayskär married his school sweetheart in 2007, and currently lives in the city of Rynningeviken with his wife and four children, largely keeping a low public profile. He is an avid supporter of Trier FC, and is known to support the National Assembly politically.
