Valmut (Newreyan: pronunciation /ˈvælmʊt/; Kvam: Kvamund pronounced /ˈkvɑːmʉnd/), officially the Republic of Valmut (Kvam: Republikken Kvamund) is a sovereign state whose territory is located in on the eastern coast of the Lhedwinic archipelago. Valmut has a total area of 000.111.222 square kilometres and a population of 4,984,850. The country shares border to the north with Tavostia and Hakonstad, Crylante to the south, Ackermark to the west, and the Lhedwinic strait to the east, with Newrey on the other side. The capital and most populous city in Valmut is Berke, located in the southwest coast of the country. Other important urban areas of Valmut includes cities like Brestrand, Elborg, Harhalsen and Asterborg.

HISTORY

Valmut is a unitary semi-presidential constitutional republic with a president elected every four years through popular vote as the genuine executive authority, and a prime minister elected through a confidence vote from the National Assembly acting as the official Head of State. The incumbet president is Mikael Knutsen, elected in 2016 and currently serving the last year of his second term. The Prime Minister, Matheo Berre, was appointed in 2012 by the National Assembly. Legislative power is vested in the unicameral National Assembly, composed of 130 Assembly Members elected to a three-year term. National Assembly elections use the mixed-member proportional (MMP) system.

Valmut is actively part of the Congress of Nations, Cyningburgh Pact for International Security, Commonwealth of Democratic Nations and the Aeian Community. The country is a founder member of the Lhedwinic Council, headquarted in XXXX. Valmut is often ranked as one of the best countries to live in. The country ranks as the 2nd highest GDP per capita and is a thriving hub for education, quality of life and equality. Valmut is considered a regional power in Asura, with greater influence in Lhedwin and North Asura.
