The Grand Imperium of Bearstin (GIB), also known as the Grand Empire of Bearstin (GEB) and commonly referred to as Bearstin or 'the Beros', is an Absolute Monarchy located in Southern Achara. With an estimated population of 403 Million and a vast territory across Southern Achara including a couple islands off its coast. The capital is Bearstin (City) and the largest city is Riverington.
The people that would become the Bero's originally lived as pirates in the islands of Nothern Achara. Approximately 200 years Pre-Jahsor, the Bero were blown off course by a storm. They established their own cities and stayed under the radar of the powerful Aydinirian Empire. The Beros would eventually launch a campaign against the weak Aydinirian Empire. Known to the Aydinirian and Bero people as Jashor. It was a time of great destruction and Bearstin would claim much of the land inhabited by the former Aydinirian Empire.
In 1620 AD, the Black Dynasty was established. In 1941, the Great Regional War broke out. Bearstin was a member of the Imperialists and was one of the countries hit by the preemptive strikes that started the war.
After the Great Regional War and the death of Darius I, Bearstin entered in a period of frequent civil wars and rebellions due to family rivalries, jealousy, and outside influence. The ascension of eighteen year old Sara I in October 2019 ushered in a new era of peace.
Etymology
The term Bearstin originally derives from 'the Beros' which is what the first settlers of Bearstin were called. At first, 'the Beros' was a moniker only used by the surrounding tribes and empires. But as it grew in popularity, the settlers adopted the moniker. Up until the late first century, 'the Beros' was the common term used to describe these people.
At the dawn of the second century, the term Bearstin was growing in popularity. Before, they seemed like a semi-civilized horde of people. Post Jashor society was that of clashing with neighboring empires and tribes. When the First Great Peace was established, the Beros began to develop their society and think of themselves as a united Empire. This belief that they were all one people seems to have spurred the terminology change to 'Bearstin'.
Today, either term is seen as correct. Some countries like Aydinir still refer to them as the Beros, but other countries such as Immobilia use Bearstin.
History
Arrival on Southern Achara
Legend says that the Bero people sailed with a massive fleet from large islands north of where they came from after a cataclysmic event forced them off their islands. Modern historians doubt that is true and suggest that instead, the Bero people are a collection of individuals from multiple islands and lands that either met up with their fleet, or found the settlers once they had settled. The displaced peoples then established their society.
The latter thesis is more likely given the racial diversity of the Bero people. Not much is known about the Beros before they arrived on Southern Achara. Stories from other nations describe pirate societies and agrarian people, but significant evidence is few and far between. The history of Bearstin starts with the settling of Bearstin, and most history before that is either legend or speculation.
When the Beros arrived on the continent, they immediately set up a settlement on the shore, and scouts were sent deeper into the land to find more hospitable land. The scouts eventually came upon the land that would become Bearstin. Early records and oral tradition tell us that the sight of their city was near a great forest with a small river running nearby. The people slowly migrated down to where the scouts were, and the city of Bearstin was established around 200 BC.
For awhile, the Beros lived in an Agrarian society, and had no formal government, but a small oligarchy made up of officials from their cities. It wasn't until 20 years before Jashor that Abby Elizabur, a descendant of the leader of the migration, Darren Elizabur, was crowned Queen of the Beros. With the Aydinirian Empire slowly declining, Abby I built up the Bero military in preparation for a massive invasion.
