Nuovatoscanan Italian, also called Guianan Italian, is the standard dialect of the Italian language in Nuovatoscanan Guiana. It is based on the European Tuscan dialects; however, it was heavily influenced by African, Indigenous American, Spanish, Portuguese, English, French, and Dutch influence. Mutual intelligibility between Nuovatuscan and European Italian is high but it is marked with different pronounciation and vocabulary exclusively used in Nuovatoscana.

Phonology

1. "z" is pronounced as "s" in Nuovatuscan as opposed to "ts" in Peninsular Italian.

2. "h" as a starting letter is not silent unlike in Peninsular Italian and is pronounced as such.

3. "J" is kept in Nuovatuscan Italian in diphthongs as a replacement for -ii in endings, as well as in vowel groups. For example, Peninsular Italian spells "Savoy" as Savoia; in Nuovatuscan, it is called Savoja.

4. Nuovatuscan Italian uses little to no accents in writing. The more common accents is, the more "formal" or "peninsular" it looks.

Lexicon

Nuovatoscanan Italian preserved words lost or obsolete in Italy, and at the same time, incorporated words from Spanish, Portuguese, Sranan Tongo, and other languages. Also, Nuovatoscanan Italian incorporates words from various Italian regions that are not present in European Standard Italian but are considered as normal in Nuovatoscana.
