Cantonia, officially the Republic of China (ROC), informally South China, is a country in East Asia. It borders China to the north, Yunnan to the west, the South China Sea to the south, and Formosa to the east.
In the early 1960s, Cantonia entered a period of rapid economic growth and industrialization called the "Southern Miracle". In the late 1980s and early 1990s, the ROC transitioned from a one-party military dictatorship to a federal multi-party democracy with a semi-presidential system. Cantonia's export-oriented industrial economy is the 21st-largest in the world by nominal GDP, and 20th-largest by PPP measures, with major contributions from steel, machinery, electronics and chemicals manufacturing. Cantonia is a developed country, ranking 15th in GDP per capita. It is ranked highly in terms of political and civil liberties, education, health care, and human development.

Politics
The Constitution of Cantonia serves as the supreme law of Cantonia, which establishes a clear separation of powers. However for much of its history Cantonia was an autocracy. From 1945 Cantonia was ruled as a single-party military junta that ended in 1985 following peaceful street protests around Cantonia that became known as the Orchid Revolution. In 1990 Cantonia adopted its current constitution, becoming a democracy.
Government
Cantonia has separation of powers. The executive branch is headed by the President whilst legislative power is vested in the bicameral Supreme National Assembly, led by the Premier. The judiciary is structured in a three-tier system - the highest court is the Supreme Judicial Yuan which is followed by Provincial and Municipal courts. 5.2
