Nuxenstat Central Station (Radictistani: Nuxenstat Haptbahnhof) is the main railway station of Nuxenstat, Radictistan. It is the largest train station in Radictistan by number of platforms and is the terminus of the Nuxenstat-Hartfer, Nuxenstat-Beschertal, Nuxenstat-Brightburg, and Nuxenstat-Wussrhas Main Lines. In addition to its use for intercity traffic, the station serves as a major interchange for Nuxenstat public transit. The station is owned and operated by Nuxenstat Rail, a joint venture between Royal Radictistan Railways and the Nuxenstat Metropolitan Transit Authority.
Services
Royal Radictistan Railways
Royal Radictistan Railways, the state-owned rail company, operates local and long-distance services from Nuxenstat Central Station on a daily basis. Trains of the "Local" and "Regional" service categories transport large numbers of commuters and short-haul leisure travellers, primarily on the northern and southern regional lines, but also on stretches of the five long-haul lines which connect the national capital to distant county seats. More significant is the main station's position at the center of the Intercity network. In addition to running Intercity and Intercity Night trains, Nuxenstat Central Station is a key stop on the Intercity Express system.
Nuxenstat Schnellbahn
The Nuxenstat Metropolitan Transit Authority operates a heavy rail commuter service between Nuxenstat Xenocimedes Radicti International Airport and Nuxenstat South Station, stopping at the central station. This service is called the Nuxenstat Schnellbahn and shares track on the Norcust-Hartfer Main Line with long haul trains.
Nuxenstat Metro
Nuxenstat Central Station is an interchange between the Red and Blue lines of the Nuxenstat Metro. After stopping at Nuxenstat Central Station, Red Line trains travel northwest through the embassy district and then eventually to the airport. The Blue Line heads east.
Layout
Concourse
The station concourse is considered a major shopping and dining area in its own right, containing more than a dozen shops, three sit-down restaurants, and eight fast food establishments. The station also has a pre-departure lounge for Royal Radictistan Railways passengers.
Platforms and tracks
Nuxenstat Central Station has tracks at two levels, both below the level of the city's streets. Tracks belonging to the national long-distance network enter a tunnel shortly before dividing from four into thirty-seven. Many of these tracks run straight through the station north to south. The station is therefore not a terminus in the technical sense. The first platform level is used by Royal Radictistan Railways and Schnellbahn traffic. It contains thirty-seven tracks accessed from one side and eighteen island platforms. All tracks on the upper level have overhead electrical wires at 15 kV AC.
A second level of platforms, located below the intercity platforms, serves the Nuxenstat Metro Red and Blue lines. Each Metro line is double tracked, resulting in a total of four tracks on the lower level accessed through one island and two side platforms.[1] The lower level tracks are equipped with third-rail electrification at 750 volts DC.
Notes
- ↑ Within Radictistani railway stations, each "face" of a platform is numbered, meaning that a single island platform will be counted as two.
