}}The '''Sanatfas Emmaɣ Tenfawen''' ({{wp|Tamashek}}: ⵙⴰⵏⴰⵜⴼⴰⵙ ⴻⵎⵎⴰⵖ ⵜⴻⵏⴼⴰⵓⴻⵏ, "Combined Investigation Services") or '''SET''' is the consolidated national {{wp|security agency|security}} and {{wp|Intelligence agency|domestic intelligence}} agency as well as the primary {{wp|law enforcement}} organization of the national government of [[Charnea]] operating under the Ministry of Justice. It is a criminal investigative agency with nationwide jurisdiction over a wide variety of criminal offenses, in addition to {{wp|counterterrorism}} and {{wp|counterintelligence}} duties facilitated by 17 SET field offices across Charnea and broad authority over local law enforcement bodies. Although it is first and foremost a domestic agency operating within Charnean territory, the SET does conduct limited activities abroad in the interest of domestic security including joint operations with the [[Mutul|Mutulese]] [[Akbal K'in]] and [[House of Shadows|Noch’ob Nah]] in the interest of protecting pilgrims and religious sites from dangerous extremism. The SET was established in 1947 during the [[Agala War]] in order to preempt the spread of partisan activities and terrorism in the war-torn Agala region to other areas of Charnea. This was accomplished through the consolidation of numerous intelligence, law enforcement and security agencies of the Charnean government which would allow for better coordination of limited security resources across the vast expanses of the country. SET task forces are regularly deployed to supplement local law enforcement and security forces in major criminal cases and in order to combat cross-border smuggling, organized crime, terror cells and subversive covert networks such as those of foreign intelligence gathering operations which local authorities lack sufficient resources to combat.
