Artemis (c. (born 2022) is the pet cat of the twin princesses Isabella and Valentia of Dakmoor, daughters of Martin, Crown Prince of Dakmoor and Maria of Latium. Nicknamed the First Cat of Dakar, Artemis is an adopted stray male black cat, though the princesses insist that he’s an “outdoors cat” and therefore does not make public appearances with either the princesses or the royal family of Dakmoor. Due to this, Artemis has attracted a great deal of public interest on account of his mysterious nature, and is referred to as the “First Cat of Dakar”.
Biography
Artemis was likely born in early 2022 according to a veterinarian’s analysis of the cat’s size. According to their father Martin, Crown Prince of Dakmoor, the princesses caught the cat in 2024 when he was a few years old prowling the Old Town District of Dakar, not far from Dakauregia Palace, the primary residence of the Dakmooran Royal Family. Despite having been caught by the princesses, they refused to properly “take in” the cat, subsequently named Artemis, wanting to respect his “wild” nature. His name was inspired by the Perateian goddess Artemis, the deity of the hunt and the moon, reflecting his nocturnal nature.
Reporters and royal family watchers occasionally trespass into the old town district of Dakar in the hopes of catching a glimpse of Artemis, of which few photographs are known to exist. Occasionally, the princesses will take pictures with the cat for promotional purposes. As a result of the cat’s close association with the princesses, he is often seen as an “unofficial” mascot of the Dakmooran Royal Family.
