History

Geography

Climate

Kocisupara is a temperate nation with temperatures ranging between 5 and 20 degrees on average throughout the year. In the mountains winter temperatures regularly fall belong freezing but the low humidity means snowfall is a rare occurrence.

Environment

A mountainous strip of coastline comprises the majority of the republic with small areas of forest and scrubland interspersed between the villages and town which cling to the natural harbours in the rocky coastline.

Politics and Government

Military

The Kocisuparan military consists of the Republican Guard and the Coast Guard numbering between 300 and 350 men and a single cutter.

Foreign Relations

Kocisupara only maintains serious diplomatic relationships with it's immediate neighbours and trading partners, as well as embassies in Vardana and Latium.

Economy

Energy

Many villages still lack a permanent connection to the electrical grid relying on generators for their power. A single power station exists in the capital running off locally mined coal to supply power to the government district as well as to the factories of Doloxe.

Industry

The industry of the republic is limited to the construction of fishing boats and small tramp steamers, and the processing of the fishing fleets catch. Little port infrastructure exists outside Doloxe which is the only urbanised area with factories.

Infrastructure

Kocisupara is a majorly undeveloped nation having under 1000km of paved roads as well as no rail system or airport.

Transport

Nationwide transport is limited to a number of privately run ferries and taxis which carry people from village to village, or to one of the few towns with a road link to either the capital or the monasteries.

Demographics

Over 99% of the population is ethnically Koc with only a handful of foreign traders living in the nation.

Education

Religion

The Koc people follow their own version of Christianity which lacks any central authority due to the previously scattered nature of the population which left most villagers without a regular priest and often a true church to worship in. This lead to the formation of boat chapels where the largest boat in the local fishing fleet was used as a church on Sunday morning before setting out. It also led to a number of unique festivals in the autumn when fishing activity is much reduced when those who could would make a pilgrimage to the few monasteries in the mountains to receive absolution.

Culture

Music and Art

Cuisine

The most famous Koc dish is Dolkac a paelle-esque stew of rice and seafood which can also be made with goat meat during the autumn months when sea conditions make fishing near impossible. Sicx is a highly alcoholic drink brewed from goat milk and various fruits and berry which vary from region to region.
