The Urimanus Cross is the second-highest military decoration awarded by The Constitutional Monarchy of Aquitayne, and is directly given by the Monarch of Aquitayne. It is awarded for gallantry and exemplifying the "warrior spirit" to members of the Aquitaynian armed forces. The award may be given posthumously. Previously it was awarded to citizens of all colonies and territories of Aquitayne until 1950, when the majority had already established their own honors system. On occasion, when a foreign soldier is operating with Aquitaynian units, they may be eligible for the Urimanus Cross under strict circumstances. It may be awarded to any member of the military services in Aquitayne and to civilians working under military command, though no civilian has ever received the award. The Uranimus Cross is the oldest military award in Aquitayne's history, and was given to exemplary soldiers after the Aquitaynian War of Independence by King ___.

The Urimanus Cross was created in 1741 by the newly established Aquitaynian Parliament to award those soldiers who had fought in the Aquitaynian War of Independence and had exemplified great sacrifice and courage fighting against the Empire of Exponent. Since then, the Urimanus Cross has been awarded 3,462 times to 3,458 individual recipients. Only 60 medals, 44 Aquitaynian, 10 Cassonnian and 6 Aswickan, have been awarded since the Second Great Astyrian War. The original crosses were milled out of melted down Exponential iron that was seized from a trade vessel attempting to leave Telora harbor just before the peace treaty was signed. It is rumored that the remaining inventory of the iron are kept in the Royal Palace in Telora.
