Avantism is a socio-political and economic ideology associated with the Futurist Movement. Characterised as a radical totalitarian leftist political ideology, first developing as a subset of Perpetuism that was eventually heavily influenced by the Progressivist Movement in the Second Vestric Republic during the first two decades of the 20th century, eventually being further popularised in the nation and eventually becoming the state ideology following a coup in 1922. Prior to its rise, the ideology was first conceived by Vestric political philosopher and Classical Briscolean Sarud Giovane at the start of the century.

The global aftermath of the Great War saw the rise of the Global Depression and a renaissance of sorts for political philosophers, movements and ideas. The socialist and rotheranist movements became the two defining ideologies of the period during the era, seeing various revolutionaries and revolters proclaiming their support for their ideas throughout the Old World, which was further amplified following the overthrow of the Rossavakan Monarchy and the establishment of the Aeian Union. While several parts of Vestrim saw a similar rise in said beliefs, the progressivist and futurist movements, influenced by the the socialist movements of the Old World, saw a major rise in popularity along with Perpetuism and its divergent subset, National Collectivism. The creation of Avantism is often described as the unification of Briscolean Political Philosophy with the Futurist Movement, but with new additions from other philosophers and many original ideas. The defining text is the Avantist Manifesto>

Avantism advocates for the total reorganisation of society and the aggressive, unrestricted scientific and technological advancement of Humanity, directly spearheaded by a government of the educated, believing that technological and scientific advancement will elevate and improve the human condition and aid in the creation of a perfect, efficient and sustainable society, providing new innovative solutions to the problems that plague Humanity and current civilisation as a whole. Like mainstream Perpetuism, Avantists seek to destroy individuality, believing that the state and the individual are two incompatible entities due to differing interests and directives while stating that humans are unable to survive without some form of organised collective living, thus justifying totalist governance. One of the most defining aspects of Avantism, however, is its fiercely anti-traditionalist and amoralist rhetoric, believing that cultural traditions and morality are both byproducts of the preceding world-systems and are incompatible with the fluidity of society and their evolution and counterproductive to the progression of society, stating that the Old Order must be eradicated to make way for a new one. In actual implementation this has called numerous antagonisms.

The Societal Collective

Avantist philosophers and political theorists often supported the ideals of the Freedom-Survival Paradox, the belief that organised living and individuality are incompatible. Influenced by Perpetuist thought, Avantists agreed with the belief that the existence of the individual in a society is detrimental to its chances of survival, as personal interests and desires clash with that of the collective, resulting in competition for power and the eventual destruction of societies and civilisations, with Perpetuists pointing out several examples of this throughout human history such as the chaotic Asuran feudalist eras where the nobility opposed monarchical authority and the various warlord wars that plagued the Majulan and Arabekhi continents.

Like Perpetuists, Avantists believe that organised living is essential to human survival and that the individual is incapable of living in organised collectives. As such, Avantists call for the destruction of the individual, believing that their existence would be counterproductive to creating the perfect civilisation and elevating society.[...]

What is modernity?

The concept of modernity is a central part of the Avantist Ideology. According to Avantists, Humanity is yet to achieve true modernity as it is still plagued with social, political and economic issues that are described as the byproducts of the current ruling world-system and social organisation. Only until Humanity achieves the Final Synthesis will we create a truly modern society and an end to all these problems.

The Final Synthesis is an idea that was adopted from Briscolean Schools of Thought and a central tenet of the Perpetuist ideology he created — being described as a state where humanity reaches a state of total societal, economic and political stability and sustainability. Like Perpetuists, Avantist Philosophers also advocate for the total reorganisation of society and destruction of individualism in order to create a society where all of its members are One with the Collective as Briscole described it. Unlike Mainstream Classical Perpetuism, however, the influence of the Futurist Movement on Avantists gave rise to the belief that technological and scientific advancement is a central part to the development of society and the achievement of the Final Synthesis.

Like all Futurist Ideologies, Avantists argued for the support of technological and scientific advancement by not only the state but all members of society. Believing that technological and scientific progress in all fields will benefit the human condition and all members of society as a whole. Unlike most Futurists Movements of its time, Avantism was known for being fiercely anti-traditionalist and amoral, believing that traditions, doxal ethos and the normative are recessive byproducts of the preceding world-systems they outlived and are incompatible with the fluidity of societies and progress, with their continued existence only further preventing humanity's inevitable but ultimately beneficial fate, and must be eradicated, as such Avantists call for unrestricted and aggressive technological and scientific progress, spearheaded by the state.

Metaphysics

Avantists place the development of society down to the development of reason and intellect, presupposing that the mind is absolute, and matter is something to be molded by it. According to Avantists the mind while absolute has an incomplete grasp of its abilities, and thus must develop those via the process of education. Society at large, the grouping of all the minds advances through the collective process of science, learning how to better mold matter. If society is to continue advancing towards the Final Synthesis, it must focus on developing the sciences and expanding minds abilities, or reach stagnation. Social development occurs throughout history has occurred but via the great man, but instead the furthering of science, religion and dogma are merely impairments that must be removed. Tradition is holding back humanity, and only progress according to Avantists is the way towards salvation.

According to Sidi Synnian philosopher Lichas Mikos, liberal and other perpetualist systems are flawed for their subjection to dogma that cannot be proven, philosophy is an outdated expression of religion that merely serves to distract humanity from the goal of progress. Morality, art, music, and literature must be subject to the progress of humanity distractions removed from all spheres, thus it is totalitarian wanting the totality of society to be geared towards advancement. There are 2 camps of Avantists outside Sidi Synnia, the Avanti Reformists and Avanti Mythoi. The Reformists call for slow gradual change through the democratic process, while the Mythoi call for the myth to be used to build support, and sabatoge to be done against the mass of society by the educated. All sides believe it is inevitable that the learned and educated classes will eventually revolt and bring a new order of Avantism.

Economics

According to Avantists the current capitalist order is flawed due to the power it gives financers. Focusing on the concept of sabatoge, it notes how financiers are forced to reduce efficiency in production in order to maintain a good rate of profit, seeing societies capacity underutilized. The financiers are also not proficient in the arts of industry, and with simply for speculation. It also notes how in capitalistic systems conspicuous consumption is used to denote class, seeing societies resources wasted. To remove this the ebony must be led by those proficient in industrial arts, a system of Soviets Engineers. Under Avantist economics the economy would be mostly subjected to the councils who would work too maximize societal output and guarantee the needs of all people. Avantist economics is mostly inspired by !VEBLEN, and his work is a key part of Avantist literature. In practice Sidi Synnia has had to adopt the private sector due to its economic underdevelopment and tiny size, not the public sector makes up the majority of the economy, controlled by the Soviets of Engineers.
