The SJJ-10 Muthnib (Arabic: مذنب, English: Comet) is a short-ranged fire-and-forget Riysian air-to-air missile.

History

Description

Seeker

The SJJ-10 uses a focal plane array imaging infrared seeker, with high resistance to infrared countermeasures. The missile has all-aspect attack capability, high off-boresight lock-on capability at 90 degrees off-boresight, and lock-on after launch ability. It designed to be used with helmet-mounted displays, which include the Soviet ZSh-5/Shchel-3UM, the Thales Scorpion HMCS, American, JHMCS, Gripen-based Cobra, and the Riysian Rayah helmet-mounted display series.

Warhead

The Muthnib uses a 12 kilogram continuous-rod warhead, with a laser proximity and contact fuse.

Propulsion/Control

The Muthnib uses a solid-fuel rocket motor, with thrust-vectoring nozzles and multiple control surfaces to greatly increase maneuverability in close-combat. It has a minimum range of 300 meters, and a maximum range of 50 kilometers, which is achieved with a large-diameter engine.
