The September 2022 Crisis, also commonly referred to simply as the September Crisis, is an ongoing concurrent set of interlocking geopolitical crises throughout the world, especially in the Periclean basin as well as in the Kayamuca Sea region and in central Belisaria. The events occurred in rapid succession, with the latter two crises emerging simultaneously.
The events originated from the stated foreign policy shift by the Ostrozavan head of state, Premier Benedict Král, who announced the expansion of his country's military presence abroad from its location in central Belisaria. Numerous influential powers in the Periclean stridently objected, condemning the anticipated move as provocative and unnecessary. Criticism was leveled at a statement in Kral's address implying the base would serve as a broader, Kiso Pact-centric defense plan, which inflamed countries thought to be inside the Western Monarchies orbit.
Weeks later, unknown gunmen initiated a midnight attack that devastated the Tyreseian base annex where the Ostrozavan troops were expected to be garrisoned. In the days afterward, numerous accusations and speculation in the international community erupted, with Latium, Yisrael, a Ostrozavan false flag operation, and other theories debated in global media and across governments. The Foreign Minister of Sydalon Belandra Sanna publicly accused Yisrael directly of being behind the Gadir base attack, escalating heated rhetoric from the existing months-long Accords crisis between the two nations.
Within twenty-four hours, Christian terrorists launched an anti-Semitic-inspired terror act in Yericho, Yisrael, citing the words of Sydalon's foreign minister and other Yarden Revisionist figures in the Catholic world. After that Shabbos, Yisraeli President Yitzchok Katz denounced the Sydalene leadership for its rhetoric, directly tying the Accords crisis's heated war of words and the terrorist cell's stated purposes on their conduct. He said the Government of Yisrael would refuse to renegotiate the Accords. Yisrael expelled the Sydalene ambassador and recalled their own from the other. Periclean and Rezese media speculated about the likelihood of a Fifth West Scipian War erupting between the two neighbors.
As the Accords crisis between Sydalon and Yisrael spiked, military forces from South Ayeli started shelling North Ayeli, and within hours launching a broad-based offensive across the island into the North's holdings. In response, Belfras, the de facto North Ayeli geopolitical patron, launched fighter-bombers and expeditionary forces to support the North's defense.
