The Sieuxerr-Tyrannian Conflict of 1978 was a political and later military conflict between Sieuxerr, New Tyran and Portcullia. It saw mostly air and naval combat in Casaterra and ground fighting in Portcullia. It resulted in the detonation of six nuclear devices, evenly spread in detonations between Sieuxerr and New Tyran, but heavily lopsided in kilotonnage used. Sieuxerr used just 40 kilotons, while New Tyran used some 210 kilotons, which was nearly seven times the kilotons that were collectively dropped between the two Tyrannian atomic bombs used in the Pan-Septentrion War.

Background

Pan-Sep War

In the early years of the Pan-Septentrion War, Sieuxerr found itself increasingly overwhelmed by Casaterran Axis forces and had to rapidly expand its armed forces. To pay for this, massive loans were taken out with many nations, including many from friendly New Tyran. In 1938, New Tyran had begun a commission dedicated to the development of nuclear weaponry, however they lacked critical experienced personnel and material, both of which Sieuxerr had. Tyran requested many of these personnel and materials from Sieuxerr, in exchange for these assets, promised a large number of funds and also the "superbomb" that NT was wishing to develop.

Sieuxerr agreed, one of the benefits they also saw was no longer needing to fund these development groups. After the personnel transfer took place, Sieuxerr further skeletonized its nuclear research teams, moving what personnel were left to other projects like radar development, jet and rocket engine development, and also computational machine equipment. A small cadre of student-researchers were left with a nearly non-existent budget to pursue nuclear theory on their own.

In 1940, as the war had begun to turn into Sieuxerr's favor, Sieuxerr attempted to
