The Office for HverVision (Hverlandic: Skrifstofa fyrir HverSjón), formerly known as the Office for Technological Modernization, is a government agency in Hverland responsible for overseeing and implementing the HverVision initiative. HverVision aims at transforming Hverland into a fully digital society by digitizing all existing paper records across various sectors, improving accessibility and enhancing data preservation.

History

HverVision was first proposed in 2022 by the Visionary Party, receiving wide support from various political factions. Once the plan was adopted, the initiative was overseen by the Office for HverVision, which had earlier played a significant role in the country's technological advancements.

Building on the developments by the Office for Health, which had in recent years prioritized technology in healthcare, the newly established Office for HverVision broadened its focus to digitize all sectors of Hverlandic society. This comprehensive digital transformation was a natural evolution from earlier initiatives such as paperless healthcare systems.

Role and responsibilites

The responsibilities of the Office for HverVision include:

  • Overseeing the digitization of existing paper records across multiple sectors.
  • Developing and maintaining the digital public services portal.
  • Implementing the digital mailbox system for citizens.
  • Coordinating initiatives to promote digital literacy, infrastructure, and integration of digital solutions across various domains.

Recent activities

HverVision was launched with the ambitious goal of digitizing a wide array of documents, ranging from medical and educational records to legal and cultural archives. By June 2023, the digital public services portal was brought online, marking a substantial leap towards complete digitization of Hverlandic society.

The initiative has placed Hverland at the forefront of digital innovation in the Nordic region, with wide-ranging implications for efficiency, accessibility, and sustainability.
