History

The Antebellum Conservative Party was founded in 2019.

It was a merger of the two larger conservative parties in West Phoenicia who unified to create a stronger conservative voting bloc in the bicameral government,

Meetings between leaders of both parties had been ongoing since 2017. The desire was to unify to strengthen the conservative base not divide it, as both parties had similar ideals.

Originally the parties were known as The Conservative Party of West Phoenicia and The Antebellum Party.

Both of which were in a Coalition alongside West Phoenicia Aristocracy Party, West Phoenicia Segregation Party and Christian People's Party.

Jimmy Bain who was the current Prime Minister and leader of the Conservative Party was selected to lead the newly merged party. Countess Tia High was choosen as his Deputy Months after the merger, Jimmy Bain voiced he would not be contesting the next election. Countess Tia High was nominated to lead the party and won the party room vote uncontested.

The unification worked and in the 2019 General election, the Antebellum Conservative Party polled some strong results, flipping seats from other parties.

The Coalition has been in power since 2011.

Scandals

In 2018 West Phoenician Minister of Immigration Harry Heniel came under fire for what was known as the West Phoenicia Citizenship Debacle.

Harry Heniel, a member of the Antebellum Party before the party merged with the Conservative Party come under fire with his introduction of a controversial plan to fast track citizenship for sport stars of other nations.

The plan dubbed "Paving the Road to Glory" will allow active sport stars and athletes to be given automatic citizenship in exchange for them representing West Phoenicia in the Winter and Summer Olympicss as well as other high profile sports like Baseball, Basketball, Tennis and Football. The goal is to bring in talent and excellence to boost West Phoenicia in sports where they are struggling.

As well as automatic citizenship granted for the athlete it allows their family to be granted citizenship and pick of location of where they want to live with further financial assistance given for relocation costs as well as waiving the $5000 Citizenship application fees and others associated with it.

The Opposition has slammed the new policy as unfair and discriminating towards people who have done the right thing and waited the five years to become citizens. Five years is a long time to be granted citizenship and people who have been made to jump through hurdles will be left cheated.

The scandal caused Harry Heniel to resign from the cabinet position.
