Matthias Lennart Bergqvist (born 21 December 1967) is Scanonian politician currently serving as xth Prime Minister of Scanonia. He previously served as Minister of Internal Affairs (5 April 2016 – 12 June 2018) and Minister of Justice (12 January 2013 – 5 April 2016) in first and second term of his predecessor, Gustav Bergman.
In 1997 he joined politics in the ranks of the Scanonian Social Democratic League, and a year later he was elected a member of the Scanonian Riksdag for Kristianstad. 18 years later, in 2016, he was elected president of the SSDL and its parliamentary group leader. On general elections in 2018 he won against Thorbjörn Danielsson from the Scanonian Democratic Initiative and became Scanonian Prime Minister.
Matthias Bergqvist holds a degree in Law Science from the University of Kristianstad.
