Cacertian intervention in the Refusal War began in March 1984 with food and medical supplies shipments being sent via air into Kylacky, Scitaria. The Kingdom’s support of the Wardens remained focused on small supply shipments until after the general election in September 1984, after which the new administration and cabinet decided to expand the nation’s role. The introduction of Ossorian and Acrean military assets in support of the Royalists spurred Cacertian High Command to assign a heavy escort to the first supply convoy to depart JOC, Andria.
The war was the first major conflict fought by the Cacertian Armed Forces since the Siduri War and allowed both the Royal Navy and the Royal Air Fleet to indirectly test some of its latest technologies. It was understood, however, that the intervention posed the risk of pitting Cacertian forces against those of Ossoria and Acrea who had dedicated military forces behind the Royalist faction. As a result of that, both the CRN and CRAF attempted to conduct actions strictly against Syaran Royalist forces.
Cacertian support for the Wardens was galvanized by several factors which included Cacerta’s past history with the Republic and a long-term hope that a Warden government would create a Syaran state friendly to Cacertian interests. It also provided an opportunity to train soldiers as well as test equipment and tactics.
