History
Shadaria's history began with the arrival of Dutch explorers in the 17th century. They established their presence in the region, even though the land was arid and unproductive. The colony, called New Netherland, did not prosper and most of the colonists left.
In 1937, Shadaria achieved its independence from the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The new nation was in a difficult situation, since it did not have access to the sea and its territory was mainly desert. The economy was precarious and the country was largely devoid of infrastructure.
After its independence in 1937, Shadaria struggled to stabilize itself as a sovereign nation. The economy was precarious and the country was largely devoid of infrastructure. In this context, Prudence Gédeon, a foreign-educated leftist leader, emerged as a major figure in Shadaria politics.
On October 17, 1941, Gédeon led a popular march that brought together millions of people, mostly coming from the most disadvantaged popular classes. The march demanded free and fair elections, with Gédeon as a candidate for the presidency, and the creation of a Constitution of a social nature.
The march was a resounding success, and Gédeon became a popular and respected leader in Shadaria. In the elections that followed, Gédeon and his party, the Shadaria Socialist Party, won a landslide victory. Gédeon became the country's first socialist president, and his government began working to build a more just and equitable political and economic system.
During his term in office, Gédeon implemented policies that favored the underprivileged classes of society. Schools, hospitals and other public infrastructures were built to improve people's quality of life. In addition, wealth redistribution policies were implemented to ensure that all citizens had access to the necessary resources to live a dignified life.
