Albmotválgabealde, also known as the Hverfolk Party, is a political party in Hverland that advocates for the rights of the Hverfolk, the indigenous people of Hverland. The party focuses on protecting the cultural heritage of the Hverfolk and ensuring their political, social, and economic inclusion in Hverlandic society. Albmotválgabealde does not contest seats in the Fjallting, instead focusing on municipalities and the Sámedagi. It holds a near majority of seats in the Sámedagi.

History

Albmotválgabealde was established in 1965 in response to the continued marginalization and loss of traditional culture faced by the Hverfolk. The party's creation marked a significant step towards recognizing and addressing the unique challenges faced by the indigenous population of Hverland.

Ideology

Albmotválgabealde's ideology is centered on the principles of indigenous rights, cultural preservation, and social justice. The party aims to protect the Hverfolk's distinct language, spiritual practices, and social systems. They advocate for the integration of traditional Hverfolk wisdom and practices into modern Hverlandic society while respecting and promoting the autonomous governance of Hverfolk communities.

Policy positions

  • Cultural preservation: Albmotválgabealde supports policies that preserve and promote the Hverfolk's unique cultural heritage. This includes funding for educational initiatives, protection of sacred sites, and the promotion of Hverfolk arts and crafts.
  • Land rights: The party advocates for the restoration and protection of traditional Hverfolk lands. They seek legal recognition of the Hverfolk's rights to access, use, and manage their ancestral territories in alignment with their traditional practices.
  • Social and economic inclusion: The party calls for targeted social and economic support to address the challenges faced by the Hverfolk community. This includes healthcare, education, employment opportunities, and addressing the psychological trauma of past atrocities.
  • Language revitalization: The party pushes for the promotion and revitalization of Ægisjallr, the indigenous language of the Hverfolk. They support programs that encourage the teaching and learning of this language within Hverfolk communities and across Hverland.

Voter base

85% of the party's voter base is Hverfolk. The remaining supporters are individuals passionate about indigenous rights and those concerned with cultural preservation. Support is particularly strong in regions with significant Hverfolk populations such as Hverhöfn, Vestmannaeyjar, and Ægisjallrhaven.
