Vha Mehlodhivestoile 2024 (also known as VM2024) is the ninth edition of the music contest, which selected the Britonish act for the 115th Worldvision Song Contest, 74th World Hit Festival. The competition is organised by Brityunik Vefecosoin Cairkovoin [BVC], Britonisea's public broadcaster which focuses on home-grown talent. The competition took place between the 20th April and 25th May. While, usually, Vha Mehlodhivestoile begins in May, BITC terminated their contract to help fund the competition meaning that BVC had to make changes to the schedule of the competition going forward. It is expected that the top two entries will head to the 115th WorldVision Song Contest and the 74th World Hit Festival respectively.

Format

The format of Vha Mehlodhivestoile 2024 is very different from the past eight editions of the contest. With BVC now working on this as a solo project, without the aid of BITC, they are free to completely decide the format of the competition.

For the first time ever, there will be four semi-finals of Vha Mehlodhivestoile and a grand final. The first semi-final will happen on the 20th April 2024, while the grand final will be on the 26th May 2024. Each semi-final will consist of six (6) acts, a decrease of two acts from the eight previous editions of the competition. Voting will be different this year as well. Votes from the international votes will dictate the first automatic qualifier. The remaining five semi-finalists will be decided via 50% Britonish Televote and 50% International Juries. The top act from this will qualify automatically to the final. The third place act will head to the repechage. The repechage will take place at the end of the fourth semi-final, with the top two acts joining the directly qualified eight to make a final of ten. There will be six voting areas - North, Central, East, City, Capital and Aloquirbe. A maximum of six nations will be allowed to vote per national final.

10 acts will make it to the Grand Final, similar to 2016, 2018, 2019, 2022 and 2023, 8 direct qualifiers and 2 from the repechage. For the Grand Final, international juries will vote in the traditional WorldVision point system. Britonisea’s six voting areas will vote and add to the total. Another change is the confirmed usage of the Superfinal. The top three acts will qualify to the Superfinal, with each of the acts performing their songs again, with the Britonish public able to vote again. Once the voting lines close, the superfinal results will be split according to a Press Jury, International Juries and the Britonish Televote to decide the winner of Vha Mehlodhivestoile 2024.
