Traditional Closed and Contemporary Open Ts’minda tavsaburavi on a K'vari Councillor

A Tavsaburavi is the type of headgear that is traditionally worn on the head of the K'vari Severibi and at times, the heads of Male Akanovan. It is mandated within the Second Order of K'vari that a Tavsaburavi be worn at all times by male K'vari Severibi. Use of a Tavsaburavi by non-K'vari Severibi is discouraged within the Akanovan Federal Territories. A Tavsaburavi is not to be confused with a Tavsapari, which is worn by all K'vari Severibi within a K'vari Assembly except for K'vari Councillors.

The Tavsaburavi is meant to convey rank within the Order and only K'vari Severibi are considered to be allowed to wear it. It is the first part of Chatsmis K'anoni, followed by the Kurtuk'i and Tavsapari.

Types

There are five different Tavsaburavis: Sheguardi Tavit, Vanguard Tavpurtseli, Warrior Tavsasharpi, Guardian Tetri Tavsaveeba, and Councillor Ts’minda Tavsaburavi. K'vari Sheguardi, Vanguards, Warriors and Guardians are expected to don a Tavsapari when entering a K'vari Assembly.

K'vari Sheguardi

The Sheguardi Tavit (თავით) is the traditional skullcap of the K'vari Sheguardi. It is the smallest variant of the Tavsaburavis and is worn by all K'vari Sheguardi. The construction of a Tavit breaks it into three different parts: The stem (ღეროვანი; Gherovani), the body (სხეული; Skheuli) and the seal (ბეჭედი; Bech’edi). The stem is meant to signify a plant and is always made to be black. The body on the otherhand, is usually unique as most other Tavsaburavis are meant to be special to the specific Sheguardi. The seal is meant to hold the skullcap in place and retain its shape, and moreso the frame of the Tavit. The seal is usually given an embroidered pattern during construction.

Sheguardi are given a Tavit upon their ascension into the Second Order, whether it be during adulthood or during childhood. Their Tavit is usually constructed during the first stage of their acceptance under supervision of the K'vari Guardian. The Tavit is not meant to be taken off unless in the presence of the entirity of the K'vari Sabaphos including both the K'vari Sabaphos Memk'vidre and the K'vari Sabaphos Mepe

The Tavit is not meant to change form and as such the modification of a Tavit is seen as a Censure unless that modification is to fix a destroyed Tavit. This rule originated in the Tredashio Collection and has been kept in contemporary times by the Second Order.

The origin of a Tavit comes from the Second Generation Enchiridon, as the Tredashio Collection did not interpret any member other than K'vari Councillor, the K'vari Sabaphos Memk'vidre or the K'vari Sabaphos Mepe as required to wear a headdress. However by the time of the Era of the Codex, the rule of all K'vari Severibi requiring to wear a headdress was mandated. This was enforced by the Ghadamian Sabaphos. In accordance with the Second Order's stance on religion, the Tavit is kept however its religious connection is interpreted as no longer valid.

K'vari Vanguard

The Vanguard Tavpurtseli (თავფურცელი) is the traditional headgear of the K'vari Vanguard. The Tavpurtseli is awarded to a Sheguardi during a Vanguard Ceremony, and is designed by the overseeing K'vari Guardian.

K'vari Councillor

The Councillor Ts’minda Tavsaburavi (წმინდა თავსაბურავი) is the traditional headgear of the K'vari Councillors, those who are appointed to the incumbent K'vari Sabaphos. It is the largest variant of Tavsaburavi that is worn within the Second Order and is required to be worn at all times by every Councillor. The construction of a Councillor Ts’minda Tavsaburavi breaks it into two pieces, the Body (სხეული; Skheuli) and the Arch (თაღოვანი; Taghovani). The body is a stiff that is uniform among all Ts'minda Tavsaburavis, which extend around the back of the head similar to a skullcap and hold form with an undecorated seal, similar to a Bech’edi in a Tavit. Unlike a Tavit which is expected to be replaced by a Tavpurtseli, the Tsminda Tavsaburavi is to remain with the Councillor for life, and as such must be refitted every year for any changes. The Arch is a veil that is sewn into the Body of the Tsminda, which expands outwards and hangs from the behind of the body. Typically the Arch will have a design to the request of a Councillor, however these designs are minimalist. It is considered worthy of a Censure to place a symbol of any kind that could signify Heterodoxy.

The use of a Ts'minda Tavsaburavi has been extant since the Constructionist Era, however its current form stems from during the Solomonite Era in accordance with the Tredashio Collection. Since it was not modified or removed from the Second Generation Enchiridon, and is considered the oldest variate of Tavsaburavi.

When a Councillor retires, he gains an extra arch on the top, which is much thinner but extends longer and is always colored grey. Called the Arch of Age (ასაკის თაღი; Asak’is Taghi), it is sewn into the Body after they have officially retured. Because of the rules surrounding a Ts'minda Tavsaburavi, a Councillor must use it as their permenant headgear. When a Councillor dies, retired or still on a K'vari Sabaphos, an extra arch is sewn in, called the Arch of Mourniong (გლოვის თაღი; Glovis Taghi). Their headgear is then placed atop their place of burial in accordance with K'vari Bereavement Standards.
