The national Flag of Garetolia (Garetolian: Ha'ea re'Karātōl'ikī) consists of a light blue field cut horizontally in the centre by a black stripe with ten white stars and a thin red frame. The light blue represents the ocean, the black stripe represents black sand beaches, the ten white stars represent the ten islands, and the red strips represent the blood of those who fought back during the Garetolian Genocide. It was adopted in 1978 after its independence from the British Empire.
