Politics of Fyngaria takes place in a framework of a federal, parliamentary, representative democratic republic. The political system is outlined in the 1982 constitution which reformed and democratised country after the Fyngarian Revolution. The fundamental principles of the constitution are protection of human dignity, separation of powers, structure of the federation and the rule of law.

The executive power is exercised by the Federal President and the Federal Government which is headed by the Federal Chancellor. The legislature takes place in a unicameral Federal Parliament with 250 members elected every four years through direct elections by proportional representation and a special legislative body, Federal Council with 4 representatives from every federal state of Fyngaria.

Executive

Federal President

Office of the Federal President (Fyngarian: Núraklár Féderalig) presents the highest ranking political office in Fyngaria. Albeit the officeholder holds the title of head of state, the Federal President, based on the Constitution of Fyngaria has mostly ceremonial duties. The Office of the Federal President has been established in 1982 after the Fyngarian Revolution and the first Federal President was Péter Jášagik. Current, tenth Federal President of Fyngaria is Georgá Lánig (Since August 29, 2018).

The duties and responsibilities described in the 1982 Constitution:

  • Represents the Fyngarian people and state abroad, in international meetings and in front of the international courts
  • Represents the unity of Fyngaria
  • Serves as the Commander-in-Chief of the Fyngarian Defense Forces
  • Declares elections for Federal Parliament and Council
  • Appoints the Federal Chancellor, Federal Parliament and Council, according to the election results.
  • Gives assents to and vetoes federal laws
  • Declares state of emergency, state of war and peace
  • Recieves foreign dignitaries and ambassadors
  • Gives pardons, national awards and military promotions
  • Serves as a liaison between the Fyngarian people and the Federal Government
