The Central Intelligence Bureau (Hlav Sprav) is the domestic intelligence and security service of Durnstaal and its principal federal law enforcement agency. The organization operates under the jurisdiction of the Department of Justice and is part of the wider Durnstaal Intelligence Community. The agency reports to the Attorney General and the Director of the Interior. They deal mainly with criminal investigations and counterintelligence and expanded into counterterrorism in 1983.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Hlav Sprav's main goals are to protect and defend Durnstaal, to uphold the criminal laws of Durnstaal, and to provide leadership and criminal justice services to federal, provincial, municipal, and international agencies and partners when required.

The Hlav Sprav's top priorities are:

  • Protect Durnstaal from acts of terrorism,
  • Protect Durnstaal against foreign espionage,
  • Combat public corruption at all levels,
  • Protect the rights of Durnian citizens,
  • Combat transnational/national criminal organizations and enterprises,
  • Combat major white-collar crime,
  • Combat significant violent crime,
  • Support federal, provincial, local and international partners, and
  • Upgrade technology to enable, and further, the successful performances of its missions as stated above.

History

Overview

The Hlavný Spravodajský Úrad was created in 1920 by Prime Minister Bratoslav Winograd by combining several smaller agencies to better unify the government reinforcement of local and provincial law enforcement. Their first operations consisted mainly of tracking down moonshiners during the Prohibition Era but soon began operating against the many organized crime groups which emerged during the 1930's and 40's.

Key Events

August 8th, 1946 An 8 month investigation leads to the capture and arrest of Sulislaw Rabinovich AKA "The Butcher of Steunhal", a serial killer responsible for 7 deaths.

February 19th, 1952: A plan by Yurani Separatists to destroy a railroad bridge and a military train shipment is foiled, leading to to the capture of dozens of separatists and destruction of the cell.

April 2nd, 1958: A record-breaking 32,000 pounds of drugs are seized in a single raid alongside the several major leaders of the Wolni Bracia drug cartel.
