The Intelligence & Special Operations Division (ISOD) is a multipurpose intelligence service of the Acronian government, whose primary tasks include gathering, processing and analyzing national security information from around the world, primarily through the use of human intelligence (HUMINT) - mostly collected through the execution of covert military or intelligence operations both inside the Free Union of Acronius and throughout Atlas. As one of the principal constituents of the Acronian Special Forces Command, the ISOD is lead by the Director of Intelligence (currently Louis Ravel), and is primarily focused on providing intelligence for the President and his Cabinet.

Unlike other intelligence divisions within the Acronian Special Forces Command, the ISOD's field of operations is principally focused on overseas territories outside of the Free Union's borders. Domestic activity is very limited within the unit, as such operations are usually undertaken by other constituents of the Acronian Special Forces Command such as the Secret Security Agency (SSA). Moreover, the ISOD is the only government-operated intelligence agency in possession of a military division, which may carry out covert operations on behalf of the government, unless explicitly denied permission by the President or the Minister of Defense.

Based in Defense, Acronius, the ISOD is a direct successor to the Office of Intelligence, and was founded in 1940 at the onset of Great War II. The organization was momentarily split in 1945 in the direct aftermath of Malcolm Kaplan's coup-d'état attempt and the resulting Sixth Legion Plot, which divided the ISOD in two and saw a majority of its members either defect to the Sixth Legion, or discovered to be double agents working for Kaplan.
