Data Processing Systems or DPS (資訊處理合舉責限商行, snjei-sjenh-khlja'-rjo'-ghop-kja'-ghronh-tsrek-shljang-ghang) is a multi-national company registered in Themiclesia primarily developing and manufacturing computer hardware and software, and it is also involved in researching and producing solutions based on artificial intelligence, block chain technology, commercial and statistical analysis, big data, and entertainment. DPS is also noted for its efforts in studying emerging fields such as quantum computing and philanthropic initiatives such as World Connected, a campaign to extend Internet service to every household.

History

Founding

The company was founded in 1880 as the Tonning Machinery Company in the modern-day Themiclesian city of Tuan-neng, manufacturing machinery and precision instruments. With the advent of unit record equipment at the turn of the 20th century, it became a distributor and later development partner of Columbian company Pan-Hemithean Information Corporation, a leading developer of mechanical computers.

Computer market

After the Pan-Septentrion War, Tonning Machinery also began to investigate the computer market, after a computer proved decisive in securing the Allied victory in Casaterra. In 1949, Dr. Ghjwang 'An, invented magnetic core memory, providing solid-state data storage with rapid access times, and sold rights to it to Tonning Machinery, giving it, now renamed Data Processing and Recording Machines a substantial advantage in the computer market. That advantage would be maintained through dedicated funding to research and market analysis. In the 1950s, DPRM expanded its domestic and international sales, but PHIC's distributional penetration in Columbia left DPRM with only minor market presence.

During the next decade, DPRM, under government patronage, developed systems capable of storing and reproducing non-alphabetic Shinasthana text, with language as a natural barrier to PHIC's entry. Forays were made in wireless communications, digital avionics, and digital graphics, though success was negligible at best. Due to embarrassment arising from an acronym shared with the Democratic People's Republic of Menghe, a hostile state, the comapny adopted its present name in 1965.

Modern diversification

Corporate structure

DPS is a limited-liability company with publicly traded shares.

Board of Governors

According to domestic regulations, DPS is governed by a Board of Governors (董事會, towng'-dzrjoh-ghrwad) of 24 members, who are required to meet at least monthly and summon the annual general meeting (股東會, ka'-towng-ghrwad). The Board elected five amongst themselves (直事董事, ) to form a standing committee to oversee the company's operations on a daily basis.
