The National Party, abbreviated NAT, is one of the three major contemporary political parties of Wizlandia, along with its main political rivals the Liberal Party and the Social Democratic Party. It is currently in opposition to the Liberal-SDP coalition government.
The National Party ideology is Conservatism, which incorporates both fiscal and social conservative policies. On economic issues the National Party favours a capitalist economy with some economic regulations, and have supported policies such as transitioning from the LVT and VAT based tax scheme to an income based tax scheme, implementing agricultural subsidies, establishing small tariffs on foreign agriculture, and redirecting government spending from education to healthcare and pensions. On cultural issues, the National Party leans conservative, they favour drug criminalisation, laws restricting abortion, tough on crime policies, increased policing, increased restrictions on immigration, and oppose the legalisation of prostitution. The majority of Nationals support a neoconservative foreign policy and an increase in military spending in order to aggressively promote Wizlandian foreign interests, though there is a small faction that favour non-interventionism and economic nationalism. Most, but not all, Nationals acknowledge existence of anthropogenic climate change, but the party has no common climate change policy.
