The MDA F-50 Lynx is a single-seat and single-engined 5th generation multirole fighters designed by Acrean aerospace firm MDA Luftraumsystemet AB for the Imperial Shalumite Air Force. It is a Shalumite variant of the MDA EF-670. The aircraft was designed in the mid-2010s to serve as a frontline 5th generation fighter for the Shalumite military. The first batch of 48 aircraft were produced in Acrea alongside the EF-662 Vampyr, but since 2019 production and assembly of the aircraft is done in MDA manufacturing plants in Shalum.
The F-50 uses many design features characteristic of Acrean 5th generation fighters, including thrust vectoring engines, advanced variable flight control systems, sensors and on-board computer systems, and emphasis on its software and networking capabilities. However, designed as an economic 5th generation fighter it possesses several limitations to other MDA designs, such as a small internal weapons bay meaning that it carries weapons externally as standard.
